  • I am a writer, college educator, and award-winning multimedia “preditor” (producer + editor). I love telling stories with words, data, sound, video, and images. I believe that storytelling is an art, a craft, and a calling, one that requires passion, devotion, and humility. As a writer, interdisciplinary media producer, and teacher, I spend my time trying to heed the call.

For more than a decade I produced digital content for public media broadcasting brands GBH, NPR, and PBS including television, radio, news, documentaries, websites, and social media. My beats have included everything from Black history to daily news; from arts and culture, to science and technology; from education, history, and music, to finance, media, and lifestyle content.

  • I am an Assistant Professor in the Writing, Literature & Publishing department in the School of the Arts at Emerson College in Boston. I teach undergraduate and graduate students digital publishing, digital storytelling, and digital cultural criticism.

  • My research interests are intersectional and interdisciplinary and include but are not limited to: Critical digital media and cultural studies; Black digital studies; Black media studies; gender and critical race studies; digital media and popular culture; digital storytelling and publishing; intermodal cultural critical studies; technology studies; mental illness and wellness; inequality; environmental and technology ethics and justice, including artificial intelligence, data justice and human rights; and transcendental and existential philosophy.

  • As a longtime, award-winning professional digital content producer and consultant, I combine strategic intelligence and creativity, deep editorial experience, and a broad skillset to advise cross-functional and interdisciplinary teams how to create traffic-building, useful, informative, and immersive online user experiences.
